News update 20 February 2007:
The release of The Ghears 'Lost Album' entitled 'Until You Feel What We Mean' is imminent. This was recorded in 2003 and it was partly on the strength of this record that Snow Patrol asked The Ghears to support them on tour.

There are 3 new tracks from the album on The Ghears player at www.myspace.com/theghears: 'The Ladder', 'Only Just Begun' and 'Heavy Warning' . The record also features the talents of Iain Archer, Mr Plant, and Dave Lynch. 'Until You Feel What We Mean' will be available to download on itunes and other download sites from Monday 26th February 2007.

Full details and links will be posted as soon as we can provide the the information

News update 3 August 2006:
Massive apologies for The Sun promo not happening when it was supposed to, however this was due to a communication breakdown and problems out of our control. Anyway, it is happening this week! (Friday 04/08/06)

Huge thanks to everyone that has supported us and your patience, we really do appreciate it.

News update 31 July 2006:
You can read a short interview with Paul and Brick in the fabulous Blowback magazine, who made us their guests this month. We would like to thank Georgina at Blowback for being so supportive. Blowback is available at all Borders stores in the UK and at the coolest bars, clothing boutiques and record shops in the UK.

News update 28 July 2006:
We apologise once again for the Sun not including The Ghears in this weeks free downloads. We are investigating why the feature did not include the band this week and will let you all know what is happening as soon as we can. Onwards and upwards, though we have just met with the Izumi boys who are formulating a six month plan for us as we speak, everything is finally starting to move and we have some exciting things coming up for everybody to enjoy!

News update 21 July 2006:
Due to a communication error at a level that The Ghears have no control over The Sun/HMV promotion has been rescheduled for next Friday 28 July. We apologise for any inconvenience.

News update 17 July 2006:

We'd just like to say a huge thanks to everyone who has made this happen for us. More and more people every day are listening to what we do and its all down to the support we've been receiving from everyone everywhere, buying our record and helping push the music out there where it belongs!

News update 10th July 2006:
Ok! So we had a show on Friday night 07/07/06 at the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town in London and it was a great deal of fun! We want to thank all you lovely people who turned up and watched our set. It was very rockin' and felt good for all of us! It was also really good to have a pint and catch up with Will from Brigade (who we last saw in Manchester) and to introduce a few new friends to what we do! Thanks to everybody for coming! We're currently working on getting the album together and looking and sounding as cool as we can. Its a long road but we're getting there.

News update 28th June 2006:
Thanks to everyone for coming down to the Notting Hill Arts Centre last night. We had a blast of a gig and met some really cool people as well as getting horrendously drunk and chasing night buses that wouldn't stop for us! (We finally crawled into bed somewhere between 4 and 5am so we're all feeling a little worse for wear today!)

Unfortunately the Garage gig with Tom Hingley and the Lovers on 10/07/06 has been pulled by the promoter due to some financial difficulties, so this will not be taking place now. The gig could possibly be rescheduled and we'll keep you all posted on what's going to happen.

Bit of a disappointment but hey, never fear, we've just booked another gig for Friday 07/07/06 at the Bull and Gate in Kentish town! We'll be on stage at 9.15pm so come on down and have a drink with us, it'll be a great night!

News update 22nd June 2006:
The Ghears would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who bought our first limited edition single release! We're glad to report that since release on 29/05/06 we've pretty much sold them all! So thanks again everybody. If you didn't manage to get your hands on the vinyl or CD versions of "4 minute mile" then don't fear, we will shortly open an on-line shop where you will be able to pick up any remaining copies and plenty of other goodies. So just sit tight!

We'd also like to say a huge thank you to the mighty Snow Patrol for having us along for five amazing dates at the beginning of May. It was a privilege and a great pleasure to share the same stage with the boys and also the other support bands, Spinto band, The Cinematics, Amusement Parks on Fire and Deus. We all had a wonderful time and we hope everyone who saw the shows enjoyed them as much as we did.

Anyway we are currently working on mixing the b-sides for the next single (out September) and finalising the album. Watch this space...

Come see us play at Nottinghill arts centre on 27/06/06, on stage 2200 and also at the Garage 10/07/06 (time tbc). Graham from Octoberallover will be joining us on stage for a couple of tunes......

News update 26th March 2006:
Due to a plethora of engagements and the timing of our joining Snow Patrol on their UK tour, we have put back the release of our single `4 Minute Mile', until 22nd May. So you will have to wait just a little longer.

The limited edition 7" vinyl version is looking and sounding great, and the CD single is already out there with radio stations and the media, it's just starting to receive spot plays and reviews. Both will be in the shops from May 8th on Izumi Records.

We have just finished making a new video with very talented film maker Allan Gildea. Some pics from the video shoot can be found at www.myspace.com/theghears. It was an awe inspiring experience working with such a talented crew, including cameraman Angus Mitchell, who cut his teeth working on Saving Private Ryan. Watch for it on TV soon.

We start a series of gigs from Monday 27th March (see gigs page) warming up for a long summer of, yet to be announced fests and tours, to promote the single and forthcoming album Educated By Silence. We may well be doing a few in store signings closer to the end of the first week of May, so come and say hello if you can, see you all soon.

News update 26th Jan 2006:
The Ghears are on TV!! Well not quite yet, but in February. If you are one of the growing number of people getting into the Musicians Channel on Sky TV, you can get to see The Ghears filmed at a London gig with some arty stuff chucked in for good measure. All put together by the very funky Design Dell. Check it out next month.

Not only that....but XFM have been playing the forthcoming single, 4 Minute Mile, as have BBC Radio Northern Ireland, HCR, Andy Bee at Fen Radio 107.5 FM and several other radio shows. News is that Edith Bowman loves it too!! Listen out for it, word is getting round.

The single is due for release mid March on the fantastic Izumi Records label. The CD will be available in the High St record shops and Izumi will be producing a limited edition 7" single for those who want a cool memento of the bands initial release.

The album, Educated By Silence, is almost complete, in fact it is complete, but the band decided to record a further three tracks while they were in the mood and could get the studio time.

Thanks for all your emails and enquiries recently and for your support. Gigs are being sorted as we write, so watch this space.

News update Aug 20th 2005:
After a long first half of the year touring, gigging, writing and recording, we are currently talking to several record companies regarding our new impetus and candidates for single releases in the near future.

Our tour during March with Mooney Suzuki was well received and we thank audiences across the UK for their enthusiastic support. The travelling became a bit of an adventure, due to us all at one time or another suffering hire vehicle breakdowns, including Mooney Suzuki, but it was made worthwhile due to the positive mail and press we received….and of course the buzz of live performance.

Credit must go to the Mooney Suzuki for their good humour and we thank Peter Nash at Helter Skelter for putting us onto a tour with another great band. Our good friends Snow Patrol showed up at the Glasgow gig, and it is hoped we may be able to play more gigs with them in the future.

Denis Ingoldsby has just completed the production of one of our new tunes “Decider” and we are at present rehearsing it, ready for inclusion into our live set
